Car Dumped In NJ After Fatal Philly Carjacking: Police

A 60-year-old man was beaten to death while being robbed of his car in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties neighborhood late on Thursday, Aug. 17, city police told Daily Voice.

It happened along the 300 block of Cambridge Street just before 10 p.m., the department said. 

A group of men on motorcycles attacked the victim and made off with his Toyota Highlander, according to police. First responders rushed the 60-year-old to Jefferson University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:40 p.m. 

Authorities did not name the victim. 

No weapons were recovered from the scene and no arrests made as of Friday, Aug. 18, though police said the victim's car was located in Camden, New Jersey. 

Homicide detectives are investigating.
